International Salvage and Decommissioning Group

Moya Crawford - Managing Director of Deep Tek Ltd.
Moya has worked in the field of underwater salvage for over thirty years, beginning as a deckhand salving the White Star Liner, RMS Oceonrc, fore-runner of the Titonic. Since the mid-1980's she has specialised in remote cargo recovery; being part of the team that has set three world depth records for salvage; in 1-250 metres of water in the early 1990s on the Francois Vieljeux and 3000 metres of water in 2004 on the ss Persia. ln L998, parallel to this core salvage industry work, she became managing director of Deep Tek Ltd, which was formed to provide cost-effective deep water capability to other marine sectors, especially the oil & gas industry. The Company's patented Winder System, which combines the benefits of using man-made fibre rope with constant power and communications now sits at the leading edge of technology development as part of a 'Life of Field' approach; being used to undertake well intervention down to 3000 metres water depth.

Moya's interest in marine science informs many aspects of her work. Currently she sits on the Advisory Board of the Marine Alliance for Science and Technology Scotland; is chairman of the Society for Underwater Technology's, lnternational Salvage & Decommissioning Committee and was appointed as Chairman of SOI Group Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of the University of St Andrews in January 2O12.
