Abstract:
The paper will discuss the stages of design and verification of a novel pipelay system called g-lay as implemented on the CEONA Amazon. The paper will in brief, discuss the market forces that have guided the concept development and functional specification of the pipelay system. The paper will then focus on the in-depth process involved in the verification of the pipelay system including pipe bending and associated FE modelling, as well as whole system simulation focusing on pipe strains and ovality development.
